Dance strengthens communities, fosters connection, and enhances well-being.

We see first-hand how arts participation provides healthy benefits to both communities and individuals, and we are striving for ever-greater impact.

Through the Alberta Ballet Community Division, we break down barriers to make dance accessible to more Albertans, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to participate and belong.

When you give to Alberta Ballet, you’re investing in healthier, more vibrant communities where everyone belongs.

Your generosity nurtures creativity, confidence, and connection, ensuring that our studios and our theatres welcome all Albertans.

Welcoming Newcomers Program

Through our Welcoming Newcomers Program, we reach 1,000 immigrants and new Canadians each year with tickets to Alberta Ballet performances. We work in collaboration with immigrant-serving agencies, ensuring that the program benefits from the valuable insight and expertise of those who are most focused on supporting newcomer communities. With sponsor support, and particulary from our lead sponsor Enbridge, the Welcoming Newcomer program is on track to reach 5,000 newcomers in the coming year, a huge milestone that contributes to a deeper sense of belonging, cultural connection, and confidence within newcomer communities.

Beginner Ballet Outreach

Alberta Ballet Outreach Classes provide free, accessible dance experiences for youth ages 3-16, tailored to reach underserved communities. In partnerships with frontline organizations, we work together to ensure that these programs remove as many barriers as possible, creating new pathways for more children to experience the transformative power of a safe, welcoming space to explore creative movement and connect with peers.

Designed with each community’s unique goals in mind, our outreach programs are not only about dance; they’re about building connections, nurturing self-confidence, and helping children develop healthy lifelong habits.

Ballet x Powwow

Our Ballet x Powwow program, in partnership with the Indigenous Sport Council of Alberta, offers a unique cultural and social exploration through dance. In these six-week sessions, a ballet instructor and a Powwow dancer co-teach, weaving together both disciplines to create a meaningful, shared experience for Indigenous youth.
