Everyone deserves to experience the magic of dance. Alberta Ballet outreach programs reduce barriers for vulnerable youth, new Canadians and low-income families to enjoy the physical, mental and social benefits of dance.
Alberta Ballet Outreach Classes
These beginner ballet programs are hosted in partnership with community centres across the province. Classes are offered at no cost and designed to increase participation in dance for families who may face barriers to participate in the arts or recreational activities. The dance classes aim to nurture self-expression; strengthen physical health; connect youth with new friends; increase confidence and support them to find a sense of belonging in a safe, fun and welcoming space. No previous dance experience is necessary, and no uniform is required.
Alberta Ballet has hosted Outreach Classes in partnership with the YMCA, Calgary Centre for Newcomers, Indigenous Sport Council of Alberta and schools across the province in Grande Prairie, Red Deer, Medicine Hat, Calgary and Edmonton.

Welcoming Newcomers
Since 2019, Alberta Ballet has hosted almost 3,000 new Canadians at our live performances at the Jubilee Auditoriums in Calgary and Edmonton. The arts play a key role in supporting immigrants to connect to their new communities, reduce feelings of social isolation, and encourage a sense of belonging.
Thank you to Enbridge Fueling Futures for its ongoing support of this program.
