DISCOVER DANCE BEHIND-THE-SCENES 

Have you ever wondered what it takes to create a ballet performance?

Here is your opportunity to get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of Alberta Ballet. Led by an Alberta Ballet company dancer and the Manager of Education & Outreach, the tour will take you through Alberta Ballet’s facilities, including the studios and wardrobe, and allow students the chance to learn about what goes into creating a full ballet production.

Space at each session is limited to 20 students per one-hour session.

DISCOVER DANCE IN CLASS

Students learn about ballet as well as the life and training of a young dancer through classroom visits by our younger Emerging Artists. This one-hour program, designed for student in grades K-4, will uncover the life of a professional student at the School of Alberta Ballet and teach the children about the history and importance of this classical Art form. The children will participate in ballet exercises and work with our Education and Outreach facilitator to create their own interpretive dance using elements of storytelling, costume, music, and mime.

DISCOVER DANCE ON STAGE

Students in Calgary and Edmonton are invited to a special presentation at the Jubilee Auditoria. Associated with a specific Alberta Ballet production, classical ballet will be discussed and broken down as students get a glimpse at the creative process behind staging a live performance as well as a closer look at the associated production’s story and the meaning behind the movements. Students may submit questions to the dancers prior to the show and have them answered from stage as the company takes part in an interactive Q & A session following the performance. A comprehensive Study Guide will be available for teachers and students prior to this performance, which will further enhance teaching opportunities by providing curriculum ties from the performance. This performance is ideal for grades K-6.
