Kelley McKinlay

Kelley is celebrating his 15th season with Alberta Ballet and has danced many principal roles with the company. He trained at Dance Alberta in Edmonton under the direction of Ross Brierton and at The Banff Centre. He has performed with Dance Arts Vancouver, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal, and in The Banff Centre’s Festival Dance. Some of his favourite roles are Iago in Othello, Stomper in In the Upper Room, Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake, and Don Jose in Carmen. In 2008, Kelley was invited to perform Iago’s opening solo from Kirk Peterson’s Othello at the Benois de la Danse Awards Gala at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Russia. This past summer, he was invited to be a Guest Principal Artist on tour with David Nixon’s Madame Butterfly with the Northern Ballet in the UK. Kelley's most recent repertoire with Alberta Ballet includes ruin/time, Albrecht in Giselle, D’Artagnan in The Three Musketeers, and Pinkerton in Madame Butterfly.
